Tents only

Unfortunately as we don't allow vehicles into the camping field we can't accommodate camper vans at this time. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Leave your troubles behind you and venture off the beaten track into our wildflower meadow to find your own spot to relax and unwind.

Our camping field isn't tediously manicured, so you really can get back to nature and enjoy all the joys of wild camping in our two acre field.

We purposely keep numbers to a minimum on our campsite, so we can always guarantee you have plenty of space to make yourself at home, and don't have to worry about the neighbours, groups are limited to six people during Covid-19 restrictions, and we never have more than three groups at any one time.

The camping field is very natural so we recommend bringing wellies or waterproof shoes especially after wet weather. Also there is no additional lighting on the farm so torches are useful also.

We believe that BBQ's and bonfires are an important part of camping which is why a fire pit and firewood are all included in your pitch cost. Please enjoy.

Unfortunately we don't allow vehicles into the camping field as this would ruin the 'wild camping' experience, but we do provide each group with a wheel barrow to help carry kit into the field.

The Open Gate Campsite is located on our small working sheep farm, so regrettably we don't allow dogs or children as we cannot guarantee its suitability, there are free roaming chickens and geese, a dog called Sully and some very spirited sheep and horses. Same sex groups are allowed and general merriment is encouraged though please be mindful of other campers and social distancing rules.

There are composting toilets and showers up at the main farmyard, so you still have an element of civilisation. We are currently allocating each camping group with their own bathroom, please stick to your allocated bathroom throughout your stay.

We try to maintain a relaxed atmosphere on the campsite, however we do have to abide to Covid-19 regulations at all times, if you cannot abide by these restriction for the safety of our family and other guests you will be asked to leave.
